Week-End Trends: Easter softness continues

Email activity and promotional trends during the past week:

The RetailEmail Index rose 5% to 200 during the week ending March 21, and is up 3% from where it was four weeks ago. The Index score indicates that the top 100 online retailers sent 2 promotional emails each on average last week.

RetailEmail Participation Rates: Last week, 92% of the retailers in the RetailEmail Index sent out at least one promotional email, up from 87% the week prior, and up from 89% during the 4-weeks-ago period.

RetailEmail Seasonality Meter: Despite being much less of a factor than it was last year, Easter continued to be the strongest seasonal influence last week, just ahead of St. Patrick’s day. Although only 7% of the week’s emails referenced St. Patrick’s Day, nearly 27% of the emails on Monday did.
